The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland, (CIOBS) offers a range of banking and financial services qualifications. Most of their finance courses have different entry requirements. Becoming chartered is the goal for many finance and banking professionals. Being a Chartered Banker is a title that can only be given by CIOBS and suggests significant achievement and ability.

For those interested in a career, qualification or training in finance might also wish to consider the CFA. The CIOBS Advanced Diplomas requires the student to obtain three credits from the CIOBS Chartered Banker menu of subjects.

Each CIOBS Advanced Diploma is designed to give the student a concise understanding of the fundementals of the specilisation which the Diploma relates to and is a requirement to achieve Chartered Banker status.

CIOBS Professional Banker Certificate/Professional Banker Diploma

The Professional Banker Certificate is an introductory qualification for banking professionals working in retail, business and private environments with little or no experience. The qualification requires no prior learning and is available to students wishing to demonstrate their commitment to professionalism and the banking and finance sector.

The Professional Banker Diploma involves the completion of the Professional Banker Certificate together with two additional modules.

Regulatory Qualification Framework

The Regulatory Qualification Framework is designed to ensure advisors and practitioners can demonstrate their competence in a regulated role, with a range of FSSC accredited qualifications to meet regulatory requirements and advance professional standards.

Diploma in Investment Accounting

In conjuction with The Chartered Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland and Scottish Investment Operations, the CIOBS also offer a Diploma in Investment Accounting for fund accountants.
