The Insolvency Practitioners Association (IPA) is a membership body that is recognised in the UK for authorising Insolvency practitioners (IPs) under the Insolvency Act 1986.
The IPA is the only recognised body that is solely dedicated to insolvency and as such outlines the following as its core values:
The IPA develops professional standards;
Creates insolvency qualifications
Allows access to insolvency knowledge and understanding
Encourages those involved in insolvency case administration and insolvency-related work to acquire and maintain appropriate levels of competence and skills;
Leads debates on current issues such as regulation and IP qualifications;
consumer overindebtedness, advice and solutions; company administrations and the use of "pre-packs" to rescue businesses; and the need for profession-wide procedures and structures for reporting unprofessional, unethical, improper and unfair practices.
