Japanese events in London: 14th September - 20th September 2009

Anyone interested in learning Japanese culture and language must attend Japanese Matsuri, this Saturday, 19th September 2009, from 10.00am to 8.00pm at Spitalfields Market (near Liverpool Street). This event promises a day of traditional and modern Japanese festival entertainment. Events such as water balloons and masks, o-mikoshi, bon dancing, and taiko drummers will all be present. This really is one event that we really do encourage. As mentioned in a previous blog post, your involvement and help is encouraged by the Japan Society.

There will be a manga wall, entertainment for children and an amazing mix of content including martial arts, cookery, traditional music and more. As London's premier Japanese language school, (due to our insistance of combining Japanese language and culuture), we cannot emphasise this event enough: it will an excellent opportunity to see and learn about Japanese culutre, especially in London!!

The Japan Matsuri is organized by the Japan Society and Japanese Residents' Association, with support from the Embassy of Japan, Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nippon Club and Spitalfields Trading Estate.

Other events taking place at the Matsuri include the the J-factor. Anyone can enter this competition to see who can sing a Japanese song in Japanese - amazing!! There is also a Japanese Matsuri photography competition, for the best festival image from the day. Capture the spirit of the Matsuri and win fabulous prizes!

Visit the website at www.japanmatsuri.com for more information.

Please note that our October Japanese language class is now close to full capacity. Please register your details with us to be on the waiting list so that we may contact you should there be a cancellation. Otherwise the next intake will be in January 2010!
