More Student Protests

Our most recent blog was about the continuing student protests – well, they continue, and hardly surprising considering the levels of cuts and the drop in UK university numbers. Yesterday, Wednesday 9th November 2011, saw continued student protests regarding course fees. After the 2010 student protests, there was speculation on Wednesday that the marches education and training cuts would become violent. However, possibly due to the London Riots, the police were on their guard and there was only random levels of violence.

According to news reports 4,000 protestors joined up to demonstrate – originally the organisers were hoping for 10,000.

Many of the protestors then proceeded to link up with Occupy London in St Pauls.

The continued (hardly surprising) protests will increase demand for professional education and training courses in London. The reason for this are threefold: firstly, the rising costs of a traditional three year qualification has become very too expensive for many students. Secondly, the practicality of professional courses makes it easier for students to achieve a first class professional qualification. Thirdly, professional courses are more flexible in our opinion since they can be studied in a shorter time and over more delivery mechanisms.
